The beautiful southern towns of the province of Zamboanga del Sur have come into their own.
In February, 2001, sixteen towns led by Ipil as the capital formally made up the new province of
Zamboanga Sibugay following the approval of Republic Act 8973 by then President Joseph Estrada.
In these 16 towns is a wealth of discovery - from the river that traverses many of them to the
Subanen culture that is a hallmark of the early Peninsula, from picturesque islands and shores
to the inland caves that open up a new vista of nature unspoiled.
